Swaths, not strands

A hair detangler works on the whole head. You do not pick one strand, fix it, and call the knot gone. You comb a swath, find where it catches, then work that catch.

A long draft after a lot of edits is the same job. Yours, a collaborator's, an agent's. The sentences may already be fine. The damage is what the editing tangled: a pointer at a heading that moved, an argument that later rewrites left behind, the same claim said twice, a section that grew until it swallowed the rest. That does not show up in a line edit.

Detangler rebuilds the outline from the text as it exists, follows internal references, and reports what the editing left behind. It does not rewrite.
