A hair detangler works on the whole head, not strand by strand. You comb large swaths, find the knots, then work them out. On a draft the swaths are sections, cross-references, argument, and repetition. On a program they are routes, journeys, and sources of truth. Sentences and file internals are the strands.

The knots come from editing. A draft or a program, many passes, more than one pair of hands, especially an agent. Each change looks fine. The thing tangles: a pointer at a heading that moved, a button that goes nowhere, an argument that later rewrites left behind, two Settings screens that almost agree, a section or a dashboard that grew until it swallowed the rest.

Smell Check is the spray that removes AI smells. Detangler is the next bottle: run it on a draft or a program that has been worked over and see what the editing left behind.

detangler is the draft comb. detangler-app is the program comb. They share report buckets and use different maps. One npm package, two folder pairs. Copy the pair you need.
